2017, an up and down year for Central Alberta home starts

RED DEER- CMHC has released housing start numbers for the 2017 building year.

In Red Deer there were 331 single family/multiple unit home starts.That is 44 fewer than 2016.

Elsewhere in Central Alberta, it was a busier year in Red Deer County with 83 housing starts, 22 more than in 2016.

It was a slower building year in Sylvan Lake with 94 home starts. That is 59 fewer than in 2016.

Lacombe registered 67 home starts. That is a big drop from 126 from 2016.

Lacombe County had 55 housing starts. There were 47 in 2016.

Red Deer ended the year with 33 housing starts in December, three more than December of 2016.
