The Alberta Sport Development Centre – Central is pleased to announce the ASDC – Central Female Athlete of the Month for December.

Kia Risling, 15, is a competitive synchronized swimmer from Red Deer that has trained and competed in the sport since she was 8-years-old.

Last year, Risling was the Red Deer Silhouettes only National Athlete and competed in the 13-15 Solo category at Synchro Canada’s National Qulaifiers, Canadian Open and ESPOIR Championship events. While at ESPOIR, Risling’s figure scores helped her earn a spot on Synchro Alberta’s Provincial team. In addition, Risling was also named to the Excel Synchro club’s Junior National team.

Risling spent this past summer training in Calgary on the Provincial team and competed at the Sync competition where the team earned a bronze medal. She is described as having a strong work ethic and undeniable athletic abilities that are expected to help her grow, develop and have a successful synchronized swimming career.

ASDC – Central thanks Tom Bast Sports for celebrating the ASDC – Central Athlete of the Month recipients by the provision of commemorative apparel for each recipient.
