Red Deer-Lacombe MP Blaine Calkins wants your feedback on how to combat the "alarming rise" in rural crime across central Alberta.

Alberta Conservative Caucus members have teamed up to launch the Rural Crime Task Force.

Calkins says he has received a very high number of calls, visits and emails over the last several months from people who say they are afraid to leave their property because they may be broken into while gone.

“In some parts of Alberta rural crime is up 200%,” Calkins states in his latest report to constituents. “Our task force will be travelling across the province over the next several weeks to hear from victims, local law enforcement, municipal politicians, and crime watch groups and victims crime services. We want to hear the experiences and we are looking for solutions to this growing epidemic."

Calkins notes the information gathered will be compiled into a report to Parliament.

“My colleagues and I know there is a problem and people are frustrated,” he adds. “I would like to invite you to come out to one of the three meetings I am hosting in our riding so I can hear your concerns and your solutions."

The three meetings Calkins is hosting are as follows:
