Red Deer Optimist Chiefs win opener at Mac's Midget AAA Tournament in Calgary

The Red Deer Optimist Chiefs are 1-0 at the Mac's Midget AAA World Invitational Hockey Tournament in Calgary this week.

This after the Chiefs defeated the Calgary Flames 3-2 at the Father David Bauer Arena Wednesday morning.

There are five Pools with five teams each in the tournament’s Male Division, with the Chiefs in a Pool with the Calgary Flames, Vancouver NW Giants, Saskatoon Contacts and Belarus National U17s.

The tournament runs from December 26 - January 1 and features 25 of the best Midget AAA male hockey teams and 15 of the best female hockey teams from across Canada, the United States and Europe.

The Chiefs play next on Thursday, December 28 at 2:30 p.m. against the Vancouver NW Giants.
