It's no secret that Red Deer, as Alberta's third largest city and hub for over 400,000 Central Albertans, faces a lot of challenges.

Crime and community safety, hospital expansion and drugs remain remain the top issues Red Deerians want to see dealt with.

In the second half of her year-end interview with rdnewsNOW, Mayor Tara Veer talks about tackling crime, how the City of Red Deer is responding to the opioid crisis, and lobbying the province regarding the hospital.

She also looks at the legacy from June's devastating windstorm and shares what she is looking forward to in 2018.
