The owners of six stolen horses are breathing a sigh of relief as their livestock has been safely returned home.

In a post on the Thunder Valley Ranches Facebook page, the horses were found safe on a lease between Rocky Mountain House and Buck Lake yesterday.

The horses were taken from a property on Highway 13 between Buck Lake and Winfield last week.

Tire tracks and oats were spotted on scene and it's suspected a truck and trailer loaded the animals up, with Breton RCMP investigating the theft.

After the horses were taken the owners offered a $2,500 reward for information that led to the return of the horses.

The Facebook post about the theft was shared nearly 12,000 times with people spreading the post in places as far away as South Carolina and Prince Edward Island.

The investigation into the initial theft continues and the RCMP continue to seek any public assistance about who may have taken these horses.  Anyone with information on this theft is asked to contact the RCMP Livestock Inspector at 403-701-1462. If you want to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS), by internet at www.tipsubmit.com, or by SMS.
