Women ages 50 to 74 - the group most at risk of developing breast cancer - will have local access to mammography services when Alberta Health Services' Screen Test program visits Rocky Mountain House today.

This will be the 26th year that AHS has been offering this mobile program as women in that age category are most at risk of developing breast cancer.

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer. Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival.

Women should go and get screened every two years.

If you would like to get screened at the mobile service, booking an appointment is preferred but not required. You can make the appointment by calling 1-800-667-0604.

The Screen Test mobile mammography unit will located at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre (5016 52 Ave) from December 12-16 and 18.
