Man charged for ramming police cruiser in July

Red Deer RCMP have charged a man who is alleged to have rammed a police car on July 17 in Red Deer while driving a stolen truck.

Mounties identified the suspect early in their investigation into the collision that sent a police officer to hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The suspect was later arrested by another RCMP detachment on an unrelated matter.

James Kenneth Riley, 26, faces several charges in relation to the July 17 incident that include fail to stop at scene of accident, light from police officer, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, assault peace officer, operate motor vehicle while disqualified, theft of motor vehicle and fail to comply with probation.

Riley is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on December 19.
