Red Deer RCMP have one in custody following an armed robbery Tuesday morning in Kentwood.

Mounties responded to the Run'n On Empty convenience store at Taylor Drive and Kent Street just before 8 a.m. They say two masked men wielding a machete and pepper spray demanded cash and cigarettes. Store staff were not injured in the incident.

Police responded along with the K9 unit and tracked the suspects through the Kentwood nighbourhood and into a nearby industrial area.

Within 20 minutes, police had located the first suspect, a 19-year-old man. He was arrested without incident.

Austin Pollock of Blackfalds is charged with armed robbery, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, and wearing a disguise with intent to commit offence.

The second suspect (pictured) is described as a skinny Caucasian male, approximately six-feet-tall. He wore a face covering and a hoodie during the armed robbery but subsequently shed his disguise as he fled police on foot through the Edgar Industrial Park between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call Red Deer RCMP (403-343-5575) or Crimestoppers.
