Woman suffers serious injuries after suspected impaired driving crash

Nov 20, 2017 | 2:27 PM

Just one night before dozens of Red Deerians attended a candlelight vigil to honour loved ones lost to impaired driving, a suspected drunk driving crash in north Red Deer sent a woman to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP say it happened November 17 around 10:00 p.m. on 60 Street just east of Taylor Drive when an SUV collided with a tree and then rolled, injuring the vehicle’s passenger.

The driver was not hurt but arrested at the scene for suspected impairment.

A 33-year-old woman now faces charges of impaired driving and impaired driving causing bodily harm but her name cannot be released as her charges have yet to be sworn before the courts.
