Blackfalds council briefs: allocating grant funding

The Wolf Creek Public School District and Iron Ridge Elementary Campus are among the major benefactors of $20,000 in grant funding being allocated by Blackfalds town council this month.

This after council moved to accept this week’s recommendations from the FCSS Board to allocate the available grant funding for November.

As a result, $10,241 will go to Wolf Creek Public Schools for their URStrong project, $5,259 to the Iron Ridge Elementary Campus, $2,500 to the Iron Ridge Intermediate Campus FNMI project and $2,000 to Lacombe and District Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

Elsewhere on the agenda, Blackfalds town council proclaimed November 2017 as Family Violence Prevention Month, with November 20 being National Child Day. Further information will be available at the FCSS Office and the Abbey Centre, along with the opening of a ‘Centre for Positive Relationships’ at the Blackfalds Public Library.
