Thunder fire coach Adams after 3-18 start to season

Nov 6, 2017 | 2:27 PM

After trying to begin their season under new leadership heading into their 20th season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, the Drayton Valley Thunder have fired head coach Kyle Adams.

Adams gets the boot in the midst of the team’s lackluster performance this season with three wins against 18 losses, leaving them at the bottom of the AJHL North Division standings.

Assistant Coach Derek Wiest will assume duties as the team’s interim head coach while Joey Bouchard will continue to lead the team as General Manager.

This is the third season in a row for the Thunder to begin with a new head coach. Adams was hired in June after former head coach Jesse Dorrans did not return.
