Escaped Maskwacis inmate recaptured same day

Prison guards in Maskwacis had a busy morning on Saturday looking for an escaped inmate who was later recaptured.

Officials with Correctional Service Canada say an inmate count conducted at 5:50 a.m. November 4 revealed Trevor Ryan Whittleton was not accounted for at the Pe Sakastew Centre in Maskwacis, a minimum security federal institution.

However, Maskwacis RCMP were alerted immediately and a warrant issued for Whittleton’s arrest.

He was found and apprehended around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, with Correctional Service Staff now conducting an investigation into the incident.
