Red Deer area unemployment rate continues to fall in October

RED DEER- The latest unemployment numbers for the Red Deer area show the rate for October was 5.3 per cent.

That is down from 5.7 per cent in September.

The unemployment rate for the Red Deer area in October of 2016 was 8.1 per cent.

The Alberta unemployment rate last month was 7.8 per cent.

That is a slight drop from the September rate of 7.9 per cent.

Nationally, the economy added 35,300 new jobs last month, but the unemployment rate rose by 0.1 per cent to 6.3 per cent in October.

Stats Canada says 88,700 new full time positions were offset by a drop of 53,400 part-time positions.
