Construction on the wastewater transmission system linking Lacombe, Blackfalds and Lacombe County to Red Deer’s wastewater treatment facility is on time and on budget, officials say.

Completion of the $71 million project is scheduled for March 31, 2018.

There are six construction contracts currently underway:

1. Pipeline construction from the Odour Management Facility to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Red Deer is expected to be complete in November.

2. Construction of the Odour Management Facility is on track for completion in mid-January.

3. Construction of the pipeline from Blackfalds to the Odour Management Facility should be complete by mid-December.

4. Construction of the Blackfalds Lift Station is on schedule for completion in late January.

5. Pipeline construction from Lacombe to Blackfalds is ahead of schedule and crews are working to have it finished by mid-December.

6. Construction of the Lacombe Lift Station is on schedule to be complete by late February.

This project was made possible due to contributions from the Government of Canada, the Alberta Government and the NRDRWWSC’s municipal partners, which include the City of Lacombe, the Town of Blackfalds, Lacombe County and the City of Red Deer.
