MEDICINE HAT- Crews in the Municipal District of Ranchland are continuing to fight a grass fire that forced the evacuation of several homes in the area.

The fire broke out yesterday along Chimney Rock Road and grew out of control due to high winds, eventually growing to 12 square kilometres in size.

Two other grass fires one at Canadian Forces Base Suffield and one between Redcliff and Medicine Hat were quickly brought under control.

Wildfire information officer Travis Fairweather says they are expecting new crews to arrive to take over the fight this morning.
