Man hit by train in Innisfail suffers serious injuries

A 47-year-old man is expected to survive after he was hit by a train Tuesday night in Innisfail.

Mounties were dispatched just after 10 p.m. to the CP Rail crossing at 42 Street where the collision took place.

Innisfail RCMP Staff Sgt. Chris Matechuk says in a release that the train crew reported that they had hit a person on the rail tracks at that location.

The man who was hit was taken to Innisfail Hospital then flown by STARS to Calgary with serious injuries.

Innisfail RCMP and CP Rail police are investigating.
