Golfers Leidenius, Hill swing their way to RDC Athlete of the Week honours

Red Deer College Athletics is proud to announce our Boston Pizza Athletes of the Week.

Shaye Leidenius – Queens Golf
Hometown – Ponoka, AB
Kinesiology & Sport Studies (2nd year)

Leidenius earned individual gold and helped lead the RDC Queens to a bronze medal at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Golf Championships last weekend.

On the opening day, the Kinesiology & Sport Studies student shot an 84 and elevated her game on the final day in tough golfing conditions, finishing with an impressive 82 to capture gold.

Leidenius’ weekend total of 166 strokes was nine shots better than her nearest competitor.

Logan Hill – Kings Golf
Hometown – Red Deer, AB
Business Administration (General Management) (2nd year)

Hill helped lead the RDC Kings Golf team to an ACAC gold medal at the championships this past weekend at the RedTail Landing Golf Club.

Logan shot 159 over 2 rounds in Nisku, placed 5th among ACAC men, and was the top RDC male golfer over the two days.

The strong play of the Business Administration (General Management) student-athlete helped qualify the Kings for the 2017 PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championships at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club, October 17 – 20, hosted by Durham College in Whitby, Ontario.
