RDC Golf teams earn medals at ACAC Championships

At the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Golf Championships over the weekend, the RDC Kings earned ACAC gold while the Queens picked up bronze. Individually, Shaye Leidenius had another tremendous weekend on the golf course and won gold. Red Deer College hosted the Running Room Grand Prix #4 and Jordanna Cota earned another 1st. Both RDC Soccer teams dropped a pair of games on the road.

In non-conference volleyball action, RDC hosted a successful Holiday Inn and Suites Volleyball Challenge. Both Queens and Kings Volleyball teams went 4-0 this past weekend.

After day 1 in Nisku, the RDC Kings sat in top spot as a team while the Queens placed 3rd. Individually, RDC’s Logan Hill led the ACAC men with a 71 while Shaye Leidenius, from Ponoka, shared 1st place (84 strokes) among ACAC women.

The RDC Kings impressively earned ACAC gold while the Queens picked up bronze. After a strong opening day, Shaye Leidenius elevated her game another notch and finished in 1st place to earn ACAC gold. Leidenius trimmed off 2 strokes from Saturday, shot an 82 and finished the championship weekend with 166.

With the top ACAC finish, the RDC Kings Golf team qualifies for the 2017 PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championships Oct. 17 – 20 in Whitby, Ontario.

 

Cross-Country | Saturday, September 30 | Grand Prix #4 | RDC

Jordanna Cota earned another 1st place among ACAC female runners (24:32.14) over 6 kilometres and crossed the finish line over 17 seconds faster than 2nd place Sophia Nowicki of Lethbridge College (24:49.52).

As a team, the Queens placed 2nd while the Kings finished in 4th. Adam Wass was the top RDC male runner over 8 kilometres and placed 7th (29:57.03).

In a close match, the SAIT Trojans defeated the RDC Queens 1-0 on a penalty kick.

Queens Soccer | Sunday, October 1 | Olds

The Broncos (5-1-1) won 4-0 over the Queens (1-3-3).

 

Kings Soccer | Saturday, September 30 | SAIT

The SAIT Trojans defeated the RDC Kings 5-0 in Calgary.

Kings Soccer | Sunday, October 1 | Olds

The Olds College Broncos (2-4-1) won 2-0 over the RDC Kings (1-5-1).

Both the RDC Queens and Kings Volleyball teams went a perfect 4-0 at the Holiday Inn and

Suites Volleyball Challenge this past weekend.

The Queens defeated the College of the Rockies Avalanche in 5 sets.

The RDC Queens downed the King’s University Eagles in 4 sets.

In the morning match, RDC won 3 sets to 1 over Providence University College.

The RDC Kings won in 3 sets over the Keyano College Huskies.

The Red Deer College Kings defeated the King’s University Eagles 3 sets to 1.
