The Red Deer Ski Club (RDSC) is getting ready to hit the slopes for another year.
The club will be taking registrations for their new season on Friday, September 30 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Realty Investment Corporation, 3722-57 Ave, #216 in Westpark, Red Deer.
The Red Deer Ski Club (RDSC) provides excellent ski racing training programs for children ages 4 to 18. The programs are offered at Canyon Ski Area, Alberta’s largest non-mountain ski area.
In order to participate, children must be able to get up the blue t-bar and ski down the beginner area at Canyon Ski Resort on their own, the club says. The descent can be in the form of a snow plough, but they must be in control. If you are unsure, an assessment can be made at the beginning of the season to determine if your child needs additional lessons.
Club programs are delivered by professional coaches, certified by the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation (CSCF) and/or the Canadian Ski Instructor Alliance (CSIA).
"The emphasis of our programs is on the development of ski racing skills in a safe, structured learning environment," said Lyle Johnson, President - Red Deer Ski Club.
"Ski racing is an exciting sport where the athletes really do gain incredible lifetime skills. All levels have the opportunity to take part in races but most of all, we have a great time watching our kids develop the discipline on the hill. Don’t worry if you are not a skier yourself, there are plenty of other ways to get involved in the club."
