Two wildfires burning west of Nordegg

According to a release from the Wildfire Information Officer for the Rocky Forest Area (RFA), the wildfire hazard for the Rocky Forest Area is very high.

Also in the release it states that there are currently two wildfires burning west of Nordegg. One is approximately 100 hectares located in the Coral Creek area, and the second is approximately 500 hectares located in the White Rabbit valley.

The Coral Creek and Siffleur Staging areas are closed to the public to provide locations for firefighting operations.

A Fire Advisory has been issued for the Rocky Forest Area section of the Forest Protection Area due to current and forecasted weather conditions.

Under this advisory, all existing permits will be canceled and no new permits will be issued. 

The Fire Advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.
