Blackfalds launches new app for non-emergency issues

Aug 29, 2017 | 6:59 AM

The Town of Blackfalds is going hi-tech to make it easier for residents to report certain issues.

Blackfalds Connect is a new app that allows citizens to provide Town of Blackfalds staff with details on non-emergency issues that can include pictures, descriptions, GPS coordinates, and more providing valuable information needed to complete jobs.

In addition, the SeeClickFix platform provides town officials with a centralized issue management system to manage issues from creation to resolution and therefore engaging Blackfalds citizens throughout the process.

“This new tool will empower residents to actively participate in maintaining and improving our neighbourhoods,” says Blackfalds Mayor Melodie Stol. “Blackfalds Connect will ensure issue reports get to the right people and allow residents to keep updated on the status of their requests.”

In addition to reporting problems, Blackfalds citizens can also view, comment on, and vote to fix problems submitted by their neighbours. Citizens can even create their own “watch areas” to receive notifications about all the issues reported in their community, enabling them to follow the progress of all service requests — not just the ones they report.

Blackfalds Connect is available for free download on Android and iPhone. In addition to the mobile apps, citizens can send reports through the Town of Blackfalds website.
