Red Deer County issues fire ban

Red Deer County has instituted a fire ban, effective immediately.

According to the ban, issued by District Fire Chief Tom Metzger, all outdoor fires presently burning with Red Deer County, whether set with permission or under permit, must be extinguished right away.

Also, the ignition of all fires from here on out is prohibited.

The ban does not apply to fires which are contained within cooking and heating appliances and which are fuelled by fluids, gases or charcoal briquettes.

Any person found in violation of the ban may be held liable for any damages and or costs associated with extinguishing the fire.
