Canoer rescued off Abraham Lake

A canoer has RCMP to thank after they received help getting back to shore on Abraham Lake.

On August 21 around 11:26 a.m., Alberta Parks asked for assistance from Rocky Mountain House RCMP after they received reports about stranded canoers on the far side of the lake.

Cst. Harold Smits says the canoer’s friends were unable to get back over to them due to the wind picking up, making it difficult to get back onto the water.

RCMP used their jet boat to carry out the rescue. No one was injured in this incident.
