Titans Rugby Club players win gold at nationals

Some members of the Red Deer Titans Rugby Club just celebrated a golden weekend.

A total of 14 Titans players represented Alberta at the Canadian Rugby Championships in Calgary, 11 of them came away with gold medals.

Team Alberta U-16 won gold with a 34-29 triumph over Team B.C. 1. Titans Liam Graham, Ethan Jones, Zac Sanderson and Ben Tindall were members of the team.

Clay Guthrie won gold with the U-18 squad that knocked off B.C. 29-26 in the final.

Leah Brunner, Gwen Fillinger, Courtney and Jada Holtkamp, Lora Lee and Rachel Sever were all members of Team Alberta’s U-18 female squad that claimed gold with a 43-10 win over Nova Scotia.

In the U-16 female division, Titans Sydney Burchnall, Gwen Ferguson and Camryn Holland won bronze with Team Alberta thanks to a 60-7 triumph over Nova Scotia.
