Yogathon raises $9000 for Smiles Thru Lindsey Foundation

Aug 21, 2017 | 8:12 AM

Saturday’s Central Alberta Yogathon was successful in raising funds to support mental health awareness.

The third annual event at City Hall Park raised more than $9000 for the Smiles Thru Lindsey Foundation. That’s nearly three times the $2,500 raised by the event in 2016.

The foundation, started in 2015 by the family of Lindsey More following her death from suicide, oversees and endowment fund for local programs designed to educate youth and help prevent similar tragedies from occurring.

The four hour yoga challenge was open to yogis of all levels of expertise. Sponsors for the event included Stantec, local yoga studios, Red Deer Public Library, and BIG 105 and 106.7 The Drive.
