Another busy 10 days for Red Deer RCMP

RED DEER- Recent arrests in Red Deer include numerous suspects wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, stolen firearms and the recovery of an SUV stolen out of Olds that was involved in at least three separate criminal incidents.

Two of those incidents endangered the lives of members of the public and police officers.

On August 4 at 1:15 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of suspicious activity in the Clearview Ridge neighbourhood, and located a man who was in possession of a stolen bicycle and methamphetamine.

Wade Lawrence Grauman, 30, faces charges including possession of crystal meth, and possession of stolen property along with a pair of failing to comply charges.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on August 4, RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious man in a parked car with what was believed to be a rifle.

Mounties converged on the Recreation Centre parking lot and executed a high-risk arrest of the suspect.

He was found to be in possession of three BB guns, a long rifle with a scope and two handguns.

Brett Jared Blades, 30, faces a charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Also in the evening of August 4, RCMP located a stolen grey SUV as it drove in north Red Deer.

Police tracked it to the parking lot of a liquor store.

Officers blocked in the vehicle and prepared to initiate an arrest.

As police arrested the passenger, the driver took off, narrowly missing hitting his fellow suspect and police officers as he fled the scene in the SUV.

The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Olds in late July.

The passenger, Timothy John Knowles, 34, was wanted on outstanding warrants after failing to attend court regarding an April arrest.

RCMP continue to investigate the incident.

On August 5, Red Deer RCMP located and arrested Shannon Dawn Lagrelle, 26, who was found to be breaching court-imposed conditions and was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

At the time of her arrest, Lagrelle was in possession of stolen credit cards from nine different victims, a stolen cheque, and a stolen passport and driver’s license from two different victims.

She was also in possession of methamphetamine.

Lagrelle faces a drug charge plus possession of stolen identity document, stolen credit card and stolen property charges.

She will appear in Red Deer court on August 22.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on August 6, RCMP on patrol in downtown Red Deer located a suspect who refused to stop for police and then provided a false name after they intercepted him.

He was found to be contravening a number of court-imposed conditions and was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants out of BC.

Christopher Gerald McMurray, 31, faces resisting arrest, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and failing to comply with probation and conditions charges.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on August 8, RCMP located a stolen SUV as it drove through the Oriole Park neighbourhood.

RCMP laid a spike belt on Kerrywood Drive near Taylor Drive and another on Taylor Drive bridge and the SUV drove over both, disabling both front tires.

The vehicle continued to the intersection of 55 Avenue and 37 Street, where three occupants attempted to flee on foot.

The driver and a woman passenger were taken into custody after brief foot chases.

He was found to be in possession of several stolen cheques and was further identified as the driver in a gas and dash on August 7, where he was caught on camera driving the stolen SUV.

RCMP say this was the same SUV that was reported stolen out of Olds on July 29 and fled Red Deer RCMP on August 4, nearly striking a police officer and a suspect who was being arrested.

Thomas Jeffrey Houle, 20, has been charged with operating a vehicle while being pursued by police, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property, theft and failing to comply with conditions.

Houle is scheduled to appear in court on August 23.

Mickala Ashley Schultz, 25,  was wanted on several outstanding warrants at the time of her arrest and faced seven new charges of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.

On August 8, RCMP laid charges against a Red Deer woman regarding identity fraud that had occurred on July 10 after a woman applied for credit at several Red Deer businesses using stolen identification.

The victim’s wallet had been stolen from her vehicle several weeks earlier in a smash and grab.

One of the credit cards the suspect had applied for, in the victim’s name, had been approved at the time of the suspect’s arrest.

Danielle Janet Ross, 36, faces charges including identity and credit card theft and possession of stolen property.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on August 9, RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at an apartment building in the Westpark neighbourhood after a man was reported to have robbed another man at knifepoint inside one of the apartments.

RCMP responded and took a man and a woman into custody, the victim had his money returned to him.

Bradley James Letendre-Grimmelt, 33, and Kayla Jackson, 20, each face one charge of robbery with a weapon and one charge of possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence.

At 1:30 a.m. on August 10, Red Deer RCMP on patrol in the Normandeau neighbourhood located a man at a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Calgary.

RCMP determined the suspect, Darrell Mark Myshak, 41, was wanted on seven outstanding warrants out of Didsbury for possession of stolen property, failing to appear in court and a number of driving charges.

He was further wanted on two outstanding warrants out of Red Deer for driving charges.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on August 10, RCMP located Richard Ogilvie, 43, who was wanted on outstanding warrants for break and enter, breaching probation and failing to appear in court.

At the time of his arrest, Ogilvie was found to be in possession of what is believed to be methamphetamine and now faces the additional drug possession, and failing to comply with probation and conditions charges.

Also on August 10, Red Deer RCMP located and arrested Johnny Howard MacDonald, 23.

He was wanted on warrants after failing to appear in court to face charges stemming from an incident on March 27 when a police cruiser and two civilian vehicles were hit in the East Hill Shopping Centre parking lot.

At the time, the driver was attempting to evade police in a stolen truck.

MacDonald was also wanted on a warrant out of Innisfail.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on August 10, RCMP responded to a report of fraud and arrested a man and woman who had rented a home under false names and defrauded the home owner.

Michael David Tobias, 39, and Cherissa Tobias, 36, each face one count of fraud under $5,000.

On August 12, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody at a store in south Red Deer.

Upon arrival, officers arrested a man who was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants for theft, forgery, possession of stolen property, failing to attend court, failing to comply with conditions and failing to comply with probation.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect was in possession of a BB gun.

Michael Gary Bishop, 34, faces the following charges in addition to his outstanding warrants.

Theft under $5,000, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, resisting arrest and failing to comply with conditions.

On August 14, Red Deer RCMP located and arrested Tina Desjardine 36.

She was wanted on outstanding warrants after failing to appear in court regarding a personal robbery.

On February 24, in a man walking in the Riverside Meadows area in the early hours of the morning was robbed of his wallet by two men and a woman.

At 5:15 p.m. on August 14, RCMP on patrol in downtown Red Deer located a parked stolen truck and arrested the woman inside, she initially gave police a false name.

In the vehicle, police found methamphetamine and four firearms that had been reported stolen from a Red Deer home on August 13.

The pickup had been reported stolen out of Red Deer on August 11.

Crystal Helena Collins, 25, faces 17 drug, weapons, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property charges.

Collins is scheduled to appear in Red Deer court on August 22.
