Aug 15, 2017 | 6:39 AM

CALGARY- Last weekend’s Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer and more than 1,500 Riders raised $6.7 million for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

That brings the nine year total to over $66 million for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

This year riders began their two day, 220-kilometre journey in Calgary and travelled to Okotoks and headed back to Calgary the next day.

Funds raised will support breakthrough cancer research, clinical trials, enhanced care and the discovery of new cancer therapies at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Cross Cancer Institute and 15 other centres across Alberta.

“Every day, 43 Albertans hear the words ‘you have cancer,’ but this community of riders, volunteers, crew members, donors and sponsors are committed to making life better for Albertans facing cancer. Thank you for making the ninth annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer an extraordinary success,” says Myka Osinchuk, CEO of the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

Since 2008, the Ride event series, with events in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and BC, has raised over $370 million for cancer research across Canada.

The 2018 Ride will be held on August 18 and 19.
