Plane crashes soon after leaving Lacombe Airport, no injuries

Aug 14, 2017 | 11:02 AM

The Transportation Safety board will be investigating the crash of a small plane Sunday afternoon in Lacombe.

It was at about 5:30 p.m. when the Lacombe Police Service, EMS and the Lacombe Fire Department responded to the crash involving a single plane which had just departed from the Lacombe Airport.

The plane was located approximately 200 yards east of the runway it had taken off from. Neither the pilot orpassenger of the plane were injured, nor was anyone on the ground.

“It appears that while attempting to take off from the Lacombe Airport, the plane encountered strong wind gusts and the pilot was forced to land the plane in a field just east of the airport where the wind gusts overturned the plane causing extensive damage to the plane,” a Lacombe Police Service media release says.
