LACOMBE- Singer Gord Bamford raised a total of $393,534 at his 10th Annual Gord Bamford Charity Golf Classic on August 9 and 10.

The tournament and gala have now raised over $3,000,000 for Bamford’s foundation over the past decade.

The funds from The Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation go to a variety of youth-centered charities across the country like Big Brothers and Big Sisters, MusicCounts, and Children’s Hospitals.

Over 700+ people attended the sold-out gala event, including well-known names from the sports world including Kris Russel, Marty McSorley, Mark Recchi, Theo Fleury and Brad Gushue, just to name a few.

They were auctioned off to the golf teams who were given the opportunity to golf alongside their purchased celebrity the following day.

The Gala took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Red Deer and the Lacombe Golf and Country Club hosted the golfers for the 10th straight year.

Bamford expressed his thanks for the overwhelming support that’s been received over the past decade from sponsors, volunteers, and the music community alike.

“The event raised $70,000 in it’s first year and was born out of the idea to hold a small golf tournament and concert in the back of a flatbed truck,” he said. “To see it grow to this size, and to know that we’re making a true difference to charities means the world to me.”

Also at last week’s event, Bamford was honoured with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters National Alumni Award for his contributions. Bamford was enrolled in the program while in grade six and credits it for helping him “stay on such a great path growing up.”
