Innisfail RCMP catch man driving stolen vehicle in drive-thru

A resident of Red Deer County was put in cuffs late last week before he could enjoy his fast food order.

On Friday at around 1 p.m., Innisfail Mounties observed a suspicious vehicle in a drive-thru, which they later determined to be stolen out of of Red Deer.

Members told the driver he was under arrest, but the male continued through anyway before driving over a spike belt police has deployed at the drive-thru’s exit.

The vehicle continued a short distance before colliding with a fence and a power box. The male fled on foot and Mounties arrested him a half hour later a short distance away.

RCMP also found property in the vehicle which was also stolen, as well as break-in tools.

Sang Ho Son, 39, remains in custody and faces counts of failing to stop for police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, driving an uninsured vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of a crash.

He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Court on August 3.
