June building permits lag behind last year’s totals

RED DEER- There were fewer total building permits in June compared to June 2016, but year-to-date residential and commercial permits are still keeping pace with last year.

There were 124 total permits for all sectors issued last month for an estimated value of $10.3 million.

That compares to 133 permits valued at $13.4 million in June 2016.

All sectors in June, including residential, commercial, industrial and public, lagged behind June of last year.

So far this year, 437 residential permits have been issued for estimated value of $23.7 million,compared to 401 permits valued at $21.3 million in 2016.

At the same time there were 152 commercial permits issued so far this year, more than double the 63 permits issued for January - June 2016, but the value was slightly less at $35.6 million so far this year compared to $36.9 million last year.
