Blackfalds RCMP say they responded to a report of shots fired Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 7 a.m., two loud shots were heard by a resident in the northeast part of town, according to S/Sgt. Ken Morrison. The resident witnessed a lone male leave in a small black SUV at a high rate of speed.

When Mounties arrived on scene, it was determined two rounds had indeed been fired from a shotgun, one hitting a residence and the other a parked vehicle in a driveway. RCMP believe the shots were part of a targeted attack and that the community is not at risk.

If anyone has any information with regards to this incident, contact Blackfalds RCMP at 403-885-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
