Pair of lotto wins for central Alberta residents

A pair of central Albertans have a little deeper pockets this week.

Laila Moss, a Bowden resident, won a cool $250,000 when she scratched her $10 Crossword Supreme ticket.

“I saw I had nine words and thought, ‘There must be one more; I hope there’s one more word!’” she said. “And sure enough: there was ‘pizza,’” she said.

She says bills and a new recliner, not pizza, will be what she spends her winnings on.

In Blackfalds, Natasha Regnier learned she’d won $100,000 on her March 1 Lotto 6/49 ticket, on which she played the EXTRA.

“I had a bunch of tickets to check on the ticket checker,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw $100,000 on the screen – I started shaking.”

Regnier said the money will help her fulfill her dream of paying off her schooling.
