The Red Deer Rebels have signed their two picks from the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.

Ethan Rowland and Jordan Borysiuk each put pen to paper following this weekend’s prospects camp in Penhold.

The Rebels selected Rowland in the first round, 22nd overall at last month’s draft. Listed at 5’8” and 146 lbs., the Calgary native had 39 points in 34 games last season with the Calgary Northstars of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League.

Borysiuk was selected by the Rebels in the third round, 63rd overall. A native of Mannville, Alberta, he had 40 points in 30 games last season with the Kelowna-based Pursuit of Excellence program. Borysiuk is listed at 5’10” and 165 lbs.

Coming up next for the Rebels will be the CHL Import Draft on Wednesday, June 28.

The Rebels have an import roster spot available following the departure of Michael Spacek, who has signed a pro contract with the Winnipeg Jets.

Asst. GM Shaun Sutter says the Rebels will likely select a forward at this year’s CHL Import Draft.

Each CHL team is allowed two players, excluding goaltenders, on its roster. Defenceman Alexander Alexeyev is the Rebels lone import player.
