Calgary Police shooting under review

May 18, 2017 | 8:24 AM

CALGARY-  The father of a man shot by Calgary police two years ago says he welcomes an independent review into the use of lethal force.

Pat Heffernan’s son Anthony was shot four times by officers responding to a report of a man behaving strangely in a hotel room.

Heffernan says there are systemic issues that need to be addressed and if given the opportunity, his family would be keen to take part in the investigation.

Neil Wittmann, the recently retired chief justice of Alberta’s superior court, is leading the review, which is expected to take about a year to complete.
