Dependent on weather conditions, Agriculture and Forestry is planning for up to five prescribed fires in the Rocky Forest Area.
The fires will burn in the Blackstone, Chungo, Wapiabi, Hummingbird and Upper Clearwater areas.
"Wildfire has been an intracule part of our forest for thousands of years" says Barry Shellian, Wildfire Information Officer. "So we're returning wildfire back to the landscape for a healthier forest and to be able to eliminate the risk of unwanted wildfire on the land base."
Spring conditions are preferred to complete this project, but operations may be underway anytime from spring through late fall.
A fire advisory is still in place for the Town of Rocky Mountain House, Clearwater County, Village of Caroline and the summer Village of Burnstick Lake.
Shellian adds that you should never leave campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished.
