May 7, 2017 | 10:27 AM

A Stettler man caught fishing out of season faces several charges, including for driving his boat while impaired.

Mounties observed the male fishing from a small boat on Buffalo Lake on Saturday. Stettler Fish and Wildlife was contacted to confirm that that the fishing season is currently closed due to fish spawning, not opening until May 15.

The 33-year-old man has been charged with offences related to Impaired Operation of a Boat/Vessel, Unsafe Storage of Firearms and other Provincial Statutes.

“Stettler RCMP would like to remind the public that Impaired Driving laws pertain to boats, off highway vehicles and any other recreational vehicles,” says Cpl. Cam Russell, Stettler RCMP.
