Suspect sought after dog shot to death in Brazeau County

May 5, 2017 | 11:00 AM

Mounties are currently investigating multiple cases of animals being shot in the area.

Breton/Thorsby RCMP are now looking for the suspect behind the killing of a dog on a rural property in Brazeau County.

Police say a great dane was killed near Range Road 71 and Township Road 472 after being reported missing on April 18. The dog was found on a nearby property with three gunshot wounds to its body.

It is unknown if the animal was killed on April 18 or at a later date.

In a separate incident last month, two dogs (pictured) were shot near Carnwood and their bodies were transported to the Berrymore area where one was left in agonizing pain on the side of the road.

The individual behind that crime was later charged with two counts of killing an animal, one count of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Mounties believe the two cases are unrelated.

In another incident, Drayton Valley police say on May 1, a cat was shot on 46 Street in Violet Grove. The cat’s owner originally took it to the vet thinking it had been bit by a predator.

If you know who is responsible for these crimes you are asked to contact Breton or Drayton Valley RCMP or call Crime Stoppers.
