Zachary Jansen is the Alberta Sport Development Centre – Central (ASDC-C) Male Athlete of the Month for April.
A 16-year-old Red Deer resident and Grade 10 student at Notre Dame High School, Jansen is active competitively in athletics, volleyball, baseball, team handball, hockey and badminton.
As a track athlete, Zachary competed at the 2016 Alberta Summer Games capturing a Gold medal in three events - Pentathlon, Triple Jump and 200m hurdles. He is training this season with the Red Deer Titans Track Club and hopes to someday soon qualify and compete at Nationals.
As a member of Notre Dame’s Junior Volleyball team, Zachary and his team captured the league Championship.
A busy young man with his sports pursuits, Zachary finds time to play the piano - capturing a recent 1st place award in Jazz/Blues Grade 6 Standard - and maintains an ‘honors with distinction’ grade point average (90+) at school.
Zachary’s athletic gifts and desire to excel in everything he does, combined with his training/education experiences with ASDC-Central will only see him continue to grow and develop in his sporting career.
ASDC-Central thanks Tom Bast Sports for celebrating the ASDC-Central Athlete of the Month recipients by the provision of commemorative apparel for each recipient.
