Sylvan Lake RCMP say they're investigating an incident where a young boy was startled by someone dressed as a clown.

Corporal Kevin Halwa says they received a complaint about the incident which took place Wednesday night in the Ryders Ridge area.

"We will be doing our best to locate and identify the suspects responsible," said Halwa. "We take these things seriously and with Halloween coming up, we will be putting some man-hours into bringing this to a conclusion."

This case comes on the heels of clown-related incidents in Edmonton and Fort McMurray, as well as across North America over the last number of weeks.
